Glenno Smith
Glenn "Glenno" Smith has been a member of several Australian bands, most notably Chinese Burn Unit. Otherwise Glenno is an art mercenary, living in Sydney with his beautiful wife Gina and cats, Koenji, Pancetta and Roppongi. His over-achievements can be seen via Instagram - @glennoart. He spends most of his illustration time making international and local metal bands look tough but recently has been happier drawing cats, dogs and families in a change of direction towards sentimental portraiture/petraiture. He still takes any work as it comes, hence the art mercenary tag, and has just curated/directed Sydney's first Bein Narly Festival.
He enjoys lino-cutting, teaching illustration, curating a monthly show for emerging artists, printing, self-publishing, screen-printing and designs close to 100 t-shirt designs a year. He works long hours and loves it, but has started to concentrate on gallery-centric art with a view to a long-time coming retrospective show. Glenn recently had his first overseas solo show exhibiting in both Kyoto and Tokyo.
MAD.KAT is proud to host the first exhibit of Glenno's art in North America. In addition to individual art, we will be presenting Glenno's collaboration with Reg Mombassa Creatures: Losing the War on Nature, which after its initial success has continued on as a traveling exhibition in Australia. MAD.KAT is honored to be the first stop for this exhibit's international tour.
